In October 2019, my mother purchased a home for my family and me to live in. At the time, the arrangement was made under the understanding that this would be a long-term living situation and that the house would be left for my family because she is leaving her house to my brother. The purchase was intended to provide stability and support for my household. My family includes my twin boys (9), my daughter (5), my 2 dogs, Blackie and Darlin, and my wife and me.

Recently, a personal conflict arose between my brother and me, unrelated to the original housing agreement. Unfortunately, this family feud has escalated to the point where my mother has decided to evict my family and me from the home. This decision has come as a shock and has placed us in a very difficult and emotional position, especially given that we had no prior indication that our housing would be affected by interpersonal issues.

We are now facing displacement due to circumstances outside of our control, and we are doing our best to navigate the situation while prioritizing the well-being of our family. This morning, my mother, Nancy Blackburn, texted saying that we will be served tomorrow and have 3 days to leave.

My mother used my deceased father's life insurance check as the down payment to buy this house. She said things like, “At least he did something good for you…” and “My duty as a mom and grandma are fulfilled being able to leave you this house…” She purchased this home in 2019 before COVID and was able to get this house for $590k. Now the house is worth over $1,000,000.00 and she plans on selling it to, “live her last years as best she can.” She is choosing money over family and pretends it’s okay because of a verbal fight that my older brother got into.

She bought this home as a “second home” as stated on the mortgage to save on the interest rate, yet it is 1 mile from her primary residence, and she has never stayed a night in this house. The truth is that she never intended on living here and she bought this house for us. We are hoping to raise funds to bring this up in court so that we can renegotiate whatever we need to and so that she can’t sell the house, forget about us, and ride off into the sunset like she plans to.

We do not know what to do as we only have a tiny savings and need to pay for a lawyer to fight this wrongful eviction, as well as funds to relocate.

Please find it in your hearts to donate anything that you can to our needs. No amount is too small; any help that we can get is appreciated!

Thank you so much for your consideration.
