Help Black Students Suit Up for Success

Hi, my name is Ashley Petgrave, founder of Blacktable—a web app dedicated to connecting Black students and undergraduates to professional opportunities, from internships to networking events. We believe in making sure every student has a seat at the table—and is prepared when they get there.

But we’ve seen firsthand how something as simple as not owning a blazer, slacks, or professional shoes can stop a student from showing up with confidence to that interview or career fair.

That’s why we’re launching the Blacktable “Suited for Success” Scholarship—an award fund to help students invest in the professional attire they need to thrive.

With your help, we’re raising funds to give two $300 awards to students who need support affording business clothing for internships, job interviews, and career events. For a student who’s doing everything right, this can be the final step toward walking into a room with confidence.

This isn’t just about clothes. It’s about access, confidence, and equity. Students from underrepresented backgrounds are often left out of the silent expectations of professionalism—not because they lack potential, but because they lack resources. With rising unemployment rates of our Black professionals, this cause is pressing now more than ever.
