I’m writing this with a heavy heart. My dear friend Lauren passed away recently, after a brave battle with cancer. She was only 44. She leaves behind her two boys—Billy (16) and Ollie (12)—who were absolutely everything to her.
Lauren was the kind of mum who gave her all. Even while going through treatment, she made sure her boys felt safe, loved, and supported. Just weeks before she died, she moved them into a rented home—a fresh start she hoped would give them some stability. She was so proud of Billy, who just smashed his GCSEs, and Ollie, who’s a quiet, kind soul trying to make sense of this huge loss.
Their dad, Stuart, has always been in their lives. He and Lauren weren’t together, but he was there for the boys and is now doing everything he can to care for them full-time. But the truth is, he’s struggling. He earns enough to not qualify for support, but not enough to cover everything—rent, food, school costs, and the emotional support the boys need. As well as working full time, Stuart is also a carer for his dad who suffers with dementia. This is a lot for one person. And right now, the biggest fear is that Billy and Ollie might lose the home their mum worked so hard to give them.
We’re asking for help to give these boys a chance to grieve without the added fear of losing their home or routine. Every penny raised will go directly to supporting them—keeping them housed, fed, and emotionally supported while Stuart finds a way to rebuild their lives.
If you’ve ever wanted to help a family in real need, this is that moment. Please donate if you can, share this page, and help us honour Lauren by showing up for her boys.
Thank you so much for reading and for anything you can give.
