Financial Support for Heidi in Bill's Absence

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and everyone who has been both fortunate and unfortunate to have been blessed with a nickname by Bill Berliner;

I'm reaching out to share the story of how Bill was a badass as he fought his way through the ICU for almost a month; And to ask for help to ensure that his wife Heidi continues to be supported in his absence.

Who am I? And why is this random person setting up a GoFundMe for them?
My name is Jordan Seegmiller and I have been Morgan Berliner's partner for the past 3 years. I moved in with the Berliners in 2022 for a year before Morgan and I were able to move into our own house together. Bill immediately accepted me exactly as I was from the beginning and supported me throughout my job search and journey to rebuild myself and my confidence. I was able to ask for his permission to marry his daughter before I had to say goodbye to him; and made a promise to him that I would do everything in my power to care for and support Morgan and the rest of the family. This is my first step in fulfilling that promise.

For those unaware, Bill Berliner had 4 stents placed on 6/4/24 that were deemed successful. Unfortunately, overnight they believe he may have had a heart attack; and the doctors don’t know how but a very rare complication occurred where a 27mm hole opened up in the muscle between the right and left ventricles in his heart. On 6/5 he had a pump placed to help move the blood through his body while the doctors waited for the damaged muscle to become stable enough to repair. During this time, he kicked down every single barrier that the doctors put in front of him. We already knew that statistically the chances for success during each step were low, and he absolutely demolished the statistics. He was able to have the hole repaired; and against all odds the procedure was successful and his heart showed signs of healing and repair. Unfortunately, his body was unable to recover from the damage it sustained as a result of the lowered blood flow due to the injury. Bill fought EVERY step of the way, and will absolutely make medical history as this defect is typically immediately fatal, and the repairs are historically unsuccessful. The fact that Bill made it as far as he did was considered a miracle by all of his doctors. Bill never backed down from a challenge in his entire life, and he wasn’t going to stop here. Unfortunately, the only thing tougher than Bill was Bill; however we think that is the best way to even try and begin to explain the type of human he was. He passed peacefully and with dignity surrounded by his closest family. He is survived by his wife Heidi, his daughter Morgan, his son Zak, his granddaughter Charlotte, his brother Rich, and his sister June.

I also want to give a shoutout to Heidi and Morgan who were by his side every step of the way, usually for 12+ hours a day. His son Zak also flew out from Maryland despite having a new baby, and waited by the phone for updates all day every day. Bill could not have asked for better advocates, and even the nurses and doctors were impressed with how well they were not only able to withstand the constant bombardment of medical information but also able to comprehend, understand, and continue to make grounded decisions and convey each changing circumstance to family. At night when they couldn't be by his side, they were at a hotel down the street making phone calls to get updates on his situation. I watched as they never gave up hope and supported him through the entire journey.

I am setting up this GoFundMe to provide the many people who loved Bill with a way to help financially support his family in his absence. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference for the family, especially his wife as she navigates life without her partner of 36 years.

Thank you so much for reading this and for any support or contributions during this incredibly tough time. I feel so fortunate that I was able to get to know, love, and be loved by Bill, and I know that he touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
