Bill McAlister is an amazing father, son, husband, friend, and co-worker. Billy has a fun-loving and lively spirit. He lights up a room anywhere he goes and loved by so many. Right now, he is fighting for his life in the ICU at Regional Medical Center. It all started during a relaxing vacation from work with his beautiful wife Pam and their two sons (Will and Cooper). During this trip Billy started feeling like he had a sinus infection coming on. Coming back from the trip realized the headache and pain behind the eye were not going away and only intensifying. Worried Billy had gone to see multiple doctors for his symptoms and to no avail did any of the antibiotics or even steroid shots work. Finally, one doctor told him, he needs to go to the ER to receive proper care and will transfer him over to the hospital. In the ER the pain from his eye and head were so bad that the doctors had to increase the Morphine he was already receiving. Upon doing multiple CAT Scans, MRI, and surgeries the doctors were able to determine what Billy has. Prior to all this Billy had suffered from Kidney Failure which he has been on dialysis for years. Since, his immune system is so low he was easily susceptible to getting this disease. At this moment in time Billy is diagnosed with a Flesh-Eating Disease and congestive heart failure on top of his kidney issues. Unfortunately, the Flesh-Eating Disease has spread to his brain and had bleeding in the brain as well. We keep praying to God that he will heal his full body and have faith that he will. They are as of today going to take his breathing tube (life support out). I am writing this to share Billy’s story and bless their family during this challenging time.
