Jim, known to everyone in our village as Big Jim, has been a pillar of our community for over fifty years. Born and raised in the house he still calls home, Jim’s life has always been centered around helping others. As a child, he delivered newspapers with his father to every resident in town, and as an adult, he dedicated decades to serving as a firefighter. His presence is as familiar as the fire station across the street, and his kindness and strength remind many of Hagrid from Harry Potter.
Recently, Jim lost his mother, whom he cared for through years of declining health. Her passing has left him not only grieving but also facing a financial crisis. Due to unpaid real estate taxes, Jim is at risk of losing the only home he’s ever known. The first tax installment is due by September 15th, and without help, the county will put his house up for Sheriff sale. With limited income due to his health, Jim is struggling to keep up, even as he continues to help a local arborist with tree care when he can.
Jim’s impact on our village goes far beyond his work as a firefighter. He’s the heart behind countless civic events and is best known for organizing the annual Christmas tree sale, the fire station’s biggest fundraiser. Now, Jim needs the community’s support to keep his home and avoid homelessness. Every donation will help Jim stay in the village he’s served so faithfully, giving him hope and stability during this difficult time.
