Benefit for our beloved Betty Carranza

Our community needs more people like Betty Carranza!
Betty operates a high-quality, affordable home day care in Highland Park. She is a pillar of the community, often helping others who are in need. More than that, Betty is a loving and joyful person that truly cares for those around her. She is known and loved by many of the businesses and schools in the Highland Park area.
But our beloved Betty has been through the ringer the past year. The city forced her to tear down the playroom where she took such great care of our kids, causing considerable financial strain on her and her family. (The structure was unpermitted but had been built decades before Betty bought the house.) On top of that, Betty has been managing some difficult health situations.
Through it all, she has handled everything with grace and persistence. She and Fernando have made a beautiful temporary space for the children... in their living room. And now they are beginning construction of a new permanent space for the kids (fully permitted).
Let's help Betty cross the finish line so that she can reclaim her home and make a safe educational space for the children.
Thanks, to the amazing parents at Betty's daycare we have a raffle with wonderful prizes that you can win. For every $5 you donate, a raffle ticket will be entered in your name. These are the prizes:
-- Cameron Jordan Photography: one hour lifestyle or studio session with full online gallery of edited jpgs (value $500)
-- LA Zoo: 2 LA Zoo 1-day guest passes (value $42)
-- Printgonzalez & Redtail Press: Original linocut print from the book The Ballad of Huck & Miguel, depicting raccoons on the LA River (value $225)
