My name is Beth Morrison. I live in Deep Creek, Florida, and I've worked in the community here for many years since my move from Maine.

In March, I had a heart attack, and while I was at the hospital, they found a small mass on my thyroid while doing a CAT scan of my heart and mentioned it. That’s when life took a really unexpected turn for me. That small mass grew quickly. It was thyroid cancer. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of appointments, scans, prescriptions, and some really difficult decisions to make alone. I just had my thyroid removed and am recovering from surgery. I still have more treatment to come as well.

I tried to work intermittently, but it was too much for me. I had only worked a handful of shifts since March, and at this point, it’s not even a possibility for three or four more months. I don’t have any income at all. It’s very difficult for me to ask for help, and I always try to be very independent. But I’m asking now. Raising funds would help with medical costs, medication, copays, transportation to and from appointments when needed, and basic bills to support myself and would alleviate some of the strain. Any support, whether it’s just sharing my story or a donation, means the world to me.
