Today I met Beth at Walmart. I asked if she could help me buy baby food, and without hesitation, she offered to pay. That’s when I stopped her and told her I was actually looking for someone willing to help a stranger. Then I gave her $500.
She broke down crying and shared her story.
Beth is about to give birth in just a few days. Her baby is breech, so she’ll likely need a C-section—and she’ll be recovering completely alone. Her entire family lives in Ghana, and she has no one here to help her. She’s fallen behind on her bills and rent and can’t afford even the basic necessities, let alone everything a newborn needs. She’s terrified of bringing her baby into the world without enough to provide for them, and right now she’s simply trying to keep a roof over their heads while preparing to give birth.
Even with everything she’s facing, she was still willing to help someone else.
Let’s help her.
Every dollar will go toward helping Beth and her baby get into a stable home, catch up on essential bills, provide everything her newborn needs, and give them a safe, secure start together. Let’s show her she’s not alone and be the family she doesn’t have nearby.
