My name is Tori, I am a 41 year old American. I am raising money for Besan, her mother, and siblings. Besan is a 13 year old girl, very close in age to my own son. She is currently living in a tent with her mother and younger siblings in southern Gaza, not knowing where her father is anymore. They hope to leave Gaza and see the world. I have been friends with Besan and her family for almost a year now. We have spoken through calls and messages for months, sharing our lives and friendship with each other. They have been though so much and are ready to begin life anew. Here is a message from Besan herself, in English and the original Arabic:

I am Besan from Gaza. I stand before you as a person trying to maintain their family of 4 people. We are trying to live under difficult conditions in tents in Rafah in southern Gaza. It is difficult for me to find the words to describe what we face every day in Gaza. No food, no medicine, no clean drinking water. Oppression, helplessness, psychological pressures, daily shocks of losing loved ones. I have lost 19 people from my family: My grandfather, my aunts and their children. In Gaza it is not just hunger, fear and illness. It means actual death. I am an outstanding student I used to get first in school. I have a talent for drawing since I was 5 years old and now I draw characters, but the war has destroyed all my dreams. Even the private studio in our house was destroyed with the house. Now, I find myself in this difficult situation and I strongly and humbly ask for your help to save my family, by getting us out of Gaza. Life in Gaza has become unbearable due to the slow death from hunger, thirst, homelessness, the spread of diseases and the continuous bombing. Since October 7th, due to the continuous bombing in Gaza, we have been displaced from our home in southern Rafah and have been displaced 6 times. Currently, we live in a tent with my mother and my brothers, Musa and Ahmed, under very poor conditions. The weather is difficult to live in a thin plastic tent and in every sense of the word, we do not have the most basic necessities of life. The past months have been full of hell and terror. This war has continued for a long time, and our mental health and our lives are constantly at risk. We have reached a stage where there is no hope anymore in Gaza, as if we are waiting for death. Even if a ceasefire is reached, the destruction in Gaza in all its forms cannot be quickly repaired. To cross the border between Gaza and Egypt at Rafah, our names must be on the crossing list (paid permit). The coordinators in Egypt, who are authorized to add my family's names to the list at the border, are asking us for between $7,000 and $8,000 per person! They will not add the names until we can prove that we have the money ready.

Unfortunately, our home was completely destroyed and during a short truce. I was able to record a video of it, heartbroken to see my home.

Please help me get them out. Your help will go a long way in alleviating our suffering. I hope you will share my story with your family and friends.

نا بيسان من غزة أقف أمامكم كشخص يحاول الحفاظ على عاءلته التي تتألف من ٥ أشخاص نحن نحاول العيش تحت الظروف الصعبة في الخيام في رفح في جنوب غزة من الصعب علي ان اجد الكلمات لوصف مانواجهه كل يوم في غزة لا طعام ولادواء لا مياه شرب نظيفة قمع،عجز ،ضغوط نفسية ، صدمات يومية بفقدان الأحبة لقد فقدت ١٩ شخص من عاءلتي جدي وخالاتي واولادهم ، في غزة ليس الأمر مجرد جوع وخوف ومرض بل يعني الموت الفعلي ، أنا طالبة متفوقة كنت أحصل المرتبة الأولى بالمدرسة عندي موهبة الرسم منذ كان عمري ٥ سنوات والان أصبحت ارسم الشخصيات ولكن الحرب دمرت كل أحلامي حتى المرسم الخاص الذي ببيتنا تدمر مع البيت

الأن ، أجد نفسي في هذا الوضع الصعب وأطلب بشدة وبتواضع مساعدتكم لإنقاذ عاءلتي ، من خلال إخراجنا من غزة . أصبحت الحياة في غزة لاتطاق بسبب الموت البطيء نتيجة الجوع والعطش والتشرد وانتشار الأمراض والقصف المتواصل .منذ السابع من أكتوبر بسبب القصف المتواصل في غزة هجرنا من بيتنا في جنوب رفح ونزحنا ٦ مرات ، حاليا نعيش في خيمة مع أمي واخواني موسى وأحمد تحت ظروف متدنية للغاية والطقس صعب ان نعيش في خيمة من البلاستيك الرقيق وبكل ماتعنيه الكلمة لانملك أدنى أساسيات الحياة ، الاشهر الماضية كانت مليئة بالجحيم والرعب .هذه الحرب استمرت طويلا ، وصحتنا العقلية وحياتنا معرضة باستمرار بالخطر

صلنا إلى مرحلة لايوجد فيها أمل بعد الآن في غزة وكأننا ننتظر الموت ، حتى لو تم الوصول إلى وقف إطلاق نار فإن الدمار في غزة بكل أشكاله لايمكن إصلاحه بسرعة

لعبور الحدود بين غزة ومصر في "رفح"، يجب أن تكون أسماءنا مدرجة في قائمة العبور (تصريح مدفوع). يطالبنا المنسقون في مصر، المخولون بإضافة أسماء عائلتي إلى القائمة عند الحدود، بين 7000 و8000 دولار للشخص الواحد! لن يضيفوا الأسماء حتى نستطيع إثبات أن لدينا المال جاهزًا.
