Help Berry & Maxine McCready Stay in the Place They Love

For more than 30 years, Berry McCready served his community as a devoted pastor—offering guidance, comfort, and strength to countless people during their most vulnerable moments. Whether it was a hospital bedside prayer, a joyful wedding ceremony, or simply a kind word on a hard day, Berry was there. And always, Maxine stood faithfully beside him—his partner in life, ministry, and service. Together, they gave of themselves without hesitation, never asking for anything in return.

Now, Berry and Maxine need our help.

They are currently living in a beautiful, supportive assisted living facility in Crisfield that provides them with the round-the-clock care they need. It is a place where they are happy, safe, and content. Their days are filled with peace, dignity, and comfort—something we all hope for ourselves and those we love.

They’ve become beloved figures in their building—celebrities, really—because of the deep, unwavering love they share. After 69 years of marriage, they still hold hands all day long and can hardly stand to be apart for more than a few minutes. It’s a rare and beautiful blessing that they’re still able to be together, and we want to do everything we can to keep it that way.

The reality is, this level of care is costly—and their retirement income simply doesn’t come close to covering it. Last year, they were forced to sell their beloved home in Berlin after discovering extensive black mold in the walls. The proceeds from that sale have sustained them so far, but even with their retirement income, they’re paying nearly $4,000 out of pocket each month. And that’s before other expenses like medication, medical bills, or just simple life pleasures. That modest nest egg is rapidly dwindling.

Each month brings new financial strain, and without additional support, they may be forced to leave the place where they’ve finally found peace and stability. After moving three times in just one year, the thought of relocating yet again is overwhelming.

We’d love to offer them a sense of security—even if only for a few more months. $48,000 would give them peace of mind for another year.
