Help Ben's Family Recover from Storm Damage
Donation protected
On June 27, our family experienced an incredibly scary situation. My dad was brought to the emergency room in Princeton, MN due to memory loss and feeling out of sorts. After some examination, the physician decided it was appropriate to order a CT scan to eliminate some of his concerns. The scan showed he had suffered an intracranial bleed (bleeding under his skull), possibly caused by a fall he had taken a few months prior. He was seen by a neurosurgeon, and it was determined that he needed to have neurosurgery to stop the injury from progressing. My dad was taken by ambulance down to North Memorial to await surgery later that evening.
Luckily, the surgery went as planned, and my dad recovered from the procedure. We were all so relieved. He was discharged from the hospital a few days later and is doing just fine. The caveat is, he must be careful when doing activities that require him to exert a lot of energy that may cause pressure to build in his head.
That brings us to last week. Most of us have seen the photos on social media and stories on the news about the damage caused by the strong storms that rolled through the Twin Cities and the surrounding areas. Well, we got hit very hard in Cambridge with straight-line winds that took down 10 of our big maple and poplar trees. It is an absolute mess on my family’s property!
My dad has been trying to do as much as he can to clean everything up, and he is making slow progress. But it has gotten to a point – considering his health concerns and the amount of damage – that we need to have a professional come out and help remove the trees. We estimate based on past work that it is going to cost about $5,000 for the removal of the downed trees.
We are a family who doesn’t like to ask for help. But we are in a position where the work needs to be done. On behalf of my family, I am reaching out to see if anyone would be able to donate to the fund to get our home back in order. Any amount, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
Much Love,
Ben
