Help Beirut Community Initiative - Nation Station

Donation protected
Geitawi - the place I called home during my time in Beirut - was one of the most hard-hit neighborhoods in the 4th August explosion. It's only two km away from the explosion site. A vibrant and diverse neighborhood that attracts young expats and Lebanese alike, but has also been home to many Lebanese families for generations, Geitawi is now struggling to rebuild itself.

In lieu of any governmental assistance in the wake of the explosion, the amazing communities of Beirut have yet again formed together to provide assistance to their fellow community members. One of these amazing initiatives is Nation Station, a project started to help the residents of Geitawi.

In the words of my friend Hussein Kazoun, co-founder of Nation Station,

"Nation Station was set up in an abandoned petrol station near Roum hospital, in response to the catastrophe caused by the Beirut explosion. The Station is providing food, home appliances, nylon to cover broken windows, medicine and more... but also undertaking a data analysis of one of the most affected areas in order to bring better support to residents who have been devastated by the impact. The Station is also a pit stop to rest, eat and drink for volunteers involved in the clean up and repair effort. 100% volunteer run and 100% community and people supported, we will continue to work with the effected communities and tailor our services to their needs."

A country already reeling from mass corruption, economic collapse, food and water shortages, and COVID-19, Lebanon needs our help now more than ever. By donating to Nation Station, you will be sending money directly to those who need it most, and will help this much loved neighborhoods and its residents to get back on their feet. Even the littlest bit counts! Funds will go towards food, water, medical supplies and building materials.
