No one ever expects tragedy to strike, but when it does, lives can change in an instant. In late February, our good friend Beester Thao and his family lost their home and nearly everything they owned in a devastating house fire. The flames took more than walls and furniture. They took a place where memories were made and love was shared. This wasn’t just any house, it was the home where Cue Sen Thao and Ka Thao raised their eight children. A place where birthdays were celebrated, traditions were passed down, and siblings grew up side by side. The living room that once was a place of family gatherings filled with laughter, the kitchen that smelled of home cooked meals, the rooms where they rested in, destroyed in a matter of minutes.

Thankfully, everyone was safe but in the aftermath, the Thaos are left with almost nothing but the little things they can salvage from the fire and faced with a difficult task of starting over from scratch. Anyone who knows Beester knows he’s there when you need him. He’s the friend who makes you laugh, the person who lifts others without expecting anything in return. Now, it’s our turn to be there for him and his family.
