We are reaching out on behalf of someone we care about—Bart, who is facing one of the hardest chapters of his life. After years of battling alcoholism, Bart recently received a DUI and, as a result, lost his job as an over-the-road truck driver. This has been a devastating wake-up call, but also a turning point.
In 2023, Bart also experienced the unimaginable loss of his wife. Since then, he has struggled deeply with grief and hasn’t fully recovered. Alcohol was a way to cope with the pain—but now, with everything on the line, he’s choosing to fight for his life and future.
He’s taking the brave and difficult step of entering rehab to get the help he needs. But as many know, recovery doesn’t end at the doors of treatment. Once he completes the program, he’ll face the challenge of rebuilding from scratch—without a job, income, or support system in place.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
-The expense of rehab
-Sober-living housing and essential bills once he’s out
-Transportation to and from recovery-related commitments
-Job search support and basic living expenses
-Support for his beloved dog, Poppy
Bart and his dog have been inseparable. Poppy traveled the country with him in the truck and has been a loyal source of love and comfort through it all. Our family is caring for Poppy while Bart is in rehab, and part of the funds will go toward food and helping keep them together.
Addiction is a disease—not a moral failure. Bart is taking accountability and doing the work. He just needs a little help to make it through this transition and rebuild a sober, stable future—with his best friend waiting for him on the other side.
If you can donate, thank you. If you can share this with others, thank you. Every bit of support means the world.
With gratitude,
Bart's Family
