Help Barry, Ryan & Family Recover

This past Saturday, May 10th, the day before Mother's Day, our lives were turned upside down when Barry and his brother Ryan were the victims of a terrifying hit-and-run crash on Route 8 North in Akron. A reckless driver caused another car to strike theirs, sending their vehicle rolling multiple times.

By some miracle, both Barry and Ryan survived. We are grateful and extremely lucky to still have them with us!

But the aftermath is overwhelming.

Ryan sustained minor injuries, but Barry’s were far more serious—he suffered a broken sternum, a broken hand, and is now facing treatment for an aneurysm. It turns out the aneurysm was already there, and the one upside of the accident is that we discovered it and can treat it.

Recovery from all of this will take time. And during that time, there will be real challenges requiring unpaid time off.

Barry is mobility-limited and has been a great stay-at-home dad, but this accident has far-reaching implications that make our situation significantly more difficult. On top of that, this incident totaled our only vehicle, adding another layer of stress to an already overwhelming turn of events.

We are a tight-knit family doing our best to stay strong. We have a little girl who still needs stability, food, and comfort, even as the world around her has been shaken.

While we expect that some help may eventually come through insurance, that process is slow—and our needs are immediate: rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation to medical appointments.

We’re reaching out to our friends, family, and community to ask for help getting through this crisis. Any amount you can give will help us bridge the gap until we can get back on our feet.
