Help Barry Barreau’s retirement dream & his Foundation

Donation protected
Hello!

My name is Matthew Barreau, and Barry Barreau is my father. After 40+ years of serving others in his insurance business, he is retiring on April 30th, 2025, days after he turns 70. As he is one who is always set on doing things for others, my siblings Karin & Amy and I are attempting to find a way to return the favor to him.

Dad has mentioned a couple things over the years that “I wish I had the time for…” Now, he should have the time, and we’re hoping to “force” him into these wishes through collected generosity. (If you know Barry, you know the challenge to get him to relax or do something for himself!) One thing dad has repeatedly said is he would like to go to more away UO football games. He also has a strong desire to travel, but generally chooses taking care of others when he may have had the opportunity to. In an effort to try to help him kick off retirement with some very well-deserved and well-earned time for him, my sisters and I would like to help dad get two tickets to every Oregon Duck football game in 2025, as well as aid in travel expenses to the away games; this will combine his love for the University of Oregon and desire to travel.

Our aim is to raise $12,000. Should we surpass this goal, we will donate any additional funds to the Barry Barreau Legacy Fund with the Eugene Active 20-30 Club Foundation, which he helped create to help support special needs children in Lane County. Please read below for more information.

Thanks,
Matthew, Karin, & Amy

Barry is widely respected around town, and is known for his personal approach to business. The best story I can recall was a current client was being courted by another agent, who showed up with a power point presentation that started with “We will come out for personal visits once a quarter,” to which the business owner said “Our agent visits us once a week.” The laptop closed, and the agent left. Just as with his business, he’s been faithfully and highly committed to so many endeavors, of which I’ll likely only be able to recall a very small portion:
* the Eugene Active 20-30 club (even helping create the 20-30 Club Foundation to help kids)
* Willamette Christian Center and various youth events
* Royal Family Kids Camp for foster care children
* Volunteering at his children and grandchildren’s schools
* Serving the UO Marching Band meals/drinks before every home game (for 40+ years!)
* Eugene-Springfield Community Orchestra, Mariachi Bands, Polka Bands, Scandinavian festival and more
* Performing taps on his trumpet for about 50 years at VFW and other Memorial Day services
* Playing the Star Spangled Banner at events for University of Oregon, Eugene Emeralds, Olympic Trials, Eugene Pro Rodeo, and more
* Supporting his kids’ and relatives’ endeavors relentlessly
* Lifetime commitment to Coca-Cola & vending services that support local schools
* And… and… and…

We are reaching out to many of the primary businesses and employees he has served throughout the years, as well as some of his close friends/family whom he has also undoubtedly served with the hopes that we can bring this to fruition for him. Our minimum goal is to raise $7,000 to cover the cost of two tickets to every game, plus hotels for away games. Our high end goal is to raise $12,000 to also cover the cost of two plane tickets for each of these away games as well (train tickets to Seattle). Below are the “packages” we are aiming at finding businesses/employees/friends to sponsor. Hopefully you will be able/willing to sponsor one of these packages as we aim to get two tickets to each game for dad:

Total ticket goal: $4,000
1. Home season tickets $1600
2. @Northwestern University $500
3. @Penn State University $600
4. @Rutgers $400
5. @Iowa $400
6. @Washington $500

Total hotels travel goal: $3,000 (~$600 each for 2-3 nights)
1. Hotels - Chicago
2. Hotels - State College
3. Hotels - Newark
4. Hotels - Iowa City
5. Hotels - Seattle

Total Travel assistance goal: $5,000
Approximately $500 per plane ticket x5 away games

Thank you so much for your help!

You can also send money directly to Matthew via Venmo, PayPal, or Apple Cash; contact me for additional details. Reminder, any funds in excess of our goal will be donated directly to the Eugene 20-30 Club Foundation which was started by our father, and helps those with disabilities in the Lane County area.

Thank you so much!
Matthew, Karin, & Amy
