Barney Miller is a longtime resident of Downers Grove, Illinois, and friend who has faced more than his share of challenges. Blind since childhood, Barney attended a school for the blind and grew up in a time when autism was not well understood. Because he was never diagnosed as a child, he missed out on the support and resources that could have made a difference. Since 2014, Barney has been experiencing homelessness, navigating a world that often overlooks people with disabilities.
Despite these hardships, Barney remains hopeful. I believe that with stable housing and some technology to help him navigate daily life, he could find employment and regain his independence. The funds raised here will go directly toward a security deposit and rent to get Barney off the streets and into a safe home. If we surpass our initial needs, any extra will be used to purchase assistive technology that can make a real difference in his quality of life.
Please consider supporting Barney as he works toward stability and a brighter future. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings him closer to the safety, dignity, and opportunity he deserves. Thank you for being part of his journey.
