Help Support Makayla and EJ Steward as Baby Weston Fights in the NICU
Our family is going through one of the hardest moments we’ve ever faced, and I’m reaching out for help for my daughter, Makayla, and her husband, EJ Steward. Their baby boy, Weston, made his entrance into the world far too early — arriving two months premature after a terrifying and urgent emergency C-section.
Makayla’s doctors discovered that Weston had a true knot in his umbilical cord, something that could have taken his life if they hadn’t acted quickly. When he was born, the challenges continued — Weston came into this world fighting with a hole in his lungs, and on his third day of life, doctors detected a brain bleed.
Despite everything, this tiny warrior is holding on and showing incredible strength every single day. He will need to remain in the NICU for at least six weeks under close monitoring and specialized care.
While EJ serves in the military, the current government shutdown means he is not receiving paychecks right now. Makayla is a stay-at-home mother caring for their two other little ones — a two-year-old and a one-year-old — while trying to be with baby Weston as much as possible.
To make things even harder, they live in Fairfield, California, and baby Weston is being cared for in Sacramento, nearly an hour and a half drive each way. They are currently on the waiting list for the Ronald McDonald House, but until a spot opens up, they are traveling daily — facing growing expenses for gas, meals, and parking.
Every donation will help cover:
• Daily travel to and from the NICU
• Meals while at the hospital
• Childcare and household expenses while
EJ is unpaid
• Any unexpected medical costs for baby
Weston
Your support — whether a donation, a prayer, or sharing this page — means the world to us and gives this young family strength to keep going.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
