This is sweet little Price. Price was born 2/9/25 to Shakayla and Clint Smith. Quickly after he was born, they realized he wasn’t able to breathe. He would breathe when he cried through his mouth, but once calmed down, they realized he was unable to breathe through his nose. Babies breathe 90% through their nose their first month of life, so this was quite crucial for Price. The Burley hospital wasn’t equipped to help Price, so he was life-flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital.

After scans and testing were done, they realized his nasal passages were blocked by bone.

They went into surgery to drill holes into each nasal passage to make the holes needed for Price to breathe. During surgery, they placed stents to keep the holes open as they heal.

He has already had a second surgery to widen/reopen those holes to continue to let Price breathe through his nose.

Clint and Shakayla are currently still at Primary Children’s Hospital, unsure of when they will be able to go home yet.

Another surgery will be in a few weeks. Following surgeries after that are to be determined. He will have to be seen at Primary Children’s Clinic quite a few times for check-ups in between/after surgeries once they are able to go home.
