My name is Miguel Angel Zavala jr. I am now 1 month old . My Mommy is Beatriz Barragan she had a schedule C-Section and I arrived on June 21,2021 at 8:18am at St. Joseph hospital in The city of Orange, Ca . Before I arrived , I was about 14weeks old in my mommy’s belly she was on her way to find out my gender , Not only did she find out I was a Boy ! But she also found out that I was being diagnose with Congenital Pulmonary Airway Malformation (CPAM). It is a Mass of abnormal fetal lung tissue that forms during pregnancy . The mass is usually located in one lung & does not function as normal lung tissue. In my case I had it in my Right lung. This diagnosis is relatively rare , affecting 1 in 25,000 pregnancies. Crazy thing is in my case it was even more Rare because of the size of the mass , it had reached over 4.26CVR in size. Right away we were transferred back and fourth to different Amazing Doctors , specialists , hospitals with about 8 -10 doctor visits a week and ended up at St. Joseph Hospital where I was born but very shortly after was transferred over to CHOC children’s hospital . Due to COVID reasons my mommy had to do all that alone. Thank you mommy! You Rock ! On the day I was born I had 3 surgeries. 1st surgery to remove the mass and was a success , 2nd I was introduce to a Machine called Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) also know as a different source of Life Support. It is a heart and lung bypass machine that can be used to rest a failing heart or lungs. My 1st surgery attempt on ECMO through my neck was not a success but my 3rd Surgery to try again on ECMO but this time through my chest to my heart was a SUCCESS! I was the only patient at the hospital on ECMO and I was on it for a whole 12 days . On July 2nd I decided I was ready to be off. Since then I’ve been showing off to doctors , nurses , mommy , daddy and to the world how tough and how strong I am ! I definitely still have a long road to recovery but with my mommy & daddy by my side and my big sister Emily , all my family & friends cheering me on at home , I will continue to show my strength .
This GofundMe page is so I can ask the world to help me give back to my Mommy Beatriz & Daddy Miguel(senior) . My auntie Yesenia Barragan has helped me make this page for my parents and big sister (whom I’ve still not met in person but can’t wait to do so). My mommy & daddy have been juggling time with my sister & I. My mom has been out of work and by my side for the past 5+ months and my daddy was too but had to go back to work as you can imagine bills . Also with me being here , cost of things may start to pile on top of other bills. So today I kindly reach out to family ,friends, and to those who have crossed path with me and my family for your generosity , prayers, and positive vibes to help me help my Mommy & daddy . So they can juggle all of ends meets for me & my sister comfortably.
I am so thankful already! In my whole 1 month of being here I’ve had so many prayers , positive thoughts and many cheering me on. We are Thankful for you !
