Help Baby Meadow Heal
My name is Jessica, and I’m raising funds for my sister’s baby girl, Meadow Corinne, and their family of four. Meadow is a true little warrior. Before she was even born, she was diagnosed with several complex and rare heart conditions — including a large AVSD, Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Heterotaxy with Dextrocardia, and Polysplenia.
On June 24th, 2025, at only 10 months old, Meadow underwent her first open-heart surgery — a Kawashima procedure — at Duke. We were so hopeful she would be on the road to healing. But shortly after surgery, while still in recovery, she developed a chylothorax — a dangerous fluid buildup around her lungs — and required chest tubes to help her breathe.
After 3½ weeks in the hospital, she was discharged on July 16th. Sadly, her time home lasted only 8 days before fluid reaccumulated, and she was readmitted on July 24th. That stay lasted until August 3rd, when she was released with clear scans. Just 4 days later, on August 7th, my sister noticed Meadow wasn’t her usual happy self. Trusting her instincts, she checked her oxygen levels and rushed her to the ER.
As of last night, Meadow has been readmitted to Duke for an even more severe fluid buildup on her left lung than before, with doctors estimating another possible lengthy stay in the hospital. She may need another chest tube, and we are still waiting for answers as to why this keeps happening.
To make things even harder, Meadow’s first birthday is coming up on August 23rd, and it looks like we will be celebrating it in the hospital — holding her close, surrounded by beeping monitors instead of balloons.
Throughout this journey, her parents have been by her side every step of the way. Zach, her dad and the family’s sole income provider, has missed a lot of work to either stay with their older son or be at the hospital supporting Meadow and her mom. The financial strain of having to travel to and from Duke, hospital meals, overnight stays, and mounting medical costs is overwhelming.
As much as they don’t want to ask for help, they need it right now. Any amount you can give will go directly toward covering these expenses so they can focus on what matters most — getting Meadow well. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing her story or sending up a prayer for our brave girl.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.
