I never thought I would find myself in this situation—reaching out to ask for help. As a mother, I want nothing more than to give my baby Luca the chance to live and grow, and right now, we cannot do it alone.

Luca was born with a very rare and complex heart condition: Interrupted Aortic Arch, a large VSD, and severe Aortic Valve Stenosis. His heart was broken the moment he entered this world. At just two months old, he endured his first open-heart surgery—a surgery that saved his life. Afterward, he spent 144 long days in the CVICU before he was finally able to come home. During that time, he also needed a G-tube placed to ensure he could receive the nutrition his body so desperately needs.

Against all odds, Luca survived those difficult months, showing us strength far greater than we ever imagined. But this was only the beginning. His next open-heart surgery is already being planned, and more will follow as he grows.

We came here from Asia for work, leaving behind all of our relatives. In the U.S., it is just us—no grandparents, no uncles or aunts to lean on. I care for Luca and his older brother around the clock, while my husband works tirelessly to support us. We are doing everything we can, but the truth is that the financial weight of Luca’s medical journey has become more than we can manage alone.

Even with insurance, the costs of his long hospitalization, countless tests, his first surgery, and his G-tube placement continue to add up. Each new bill is a reminder of how much we are carrying, and how much we need help to keep going.

Every smile from Luca gives us strength to face another day. He has already overcome so much, and all we want is to give him the chance to grow, to play, and to live a full life.
