Our beautiful grandson Frankie is just 8 weeks old, and his little life has already taken a turn no family could ever prepare for.
On Thursday, Frankie was rushed into hospital unexpectedly after 6 hours the a&e team managed to get him stable enough to be transferred from Musgrove park hospital to Bristol childrens hospital Intensive Care Unit. on arrival at Bristol Doctors discovered he had a twisted bowel that had cut off his blood supply by this time 10 hours had passed since we first called 999. Once we arrived at Bristol we were given two heartbreaking choices: emergency surgery that he might not survive, or no surgery and simply keeping him comfortable for end of life. Frankie’s parents bravely chose surgery, knowing a DNR had been put in place — and against all the odds, our little warrior pulled through.
then on Sunday afternoon baby Frankie had to undergo a second surgery to see how things have gone after the first one, After a long and difficult 7-hour operation, the surgeons managed to save only 1/5th of his small bowel. He now has two stomas and faces a long, uncertain road ahead. Frankie is still in critical condition, after 2 crucial surgery's in quick successions hes still fighting for his life every single day.
The whole family are absolutely devastated. While we hold onto hope and prayers, the reality is that Frankie’s recovery will be long and will require ongoing care. Doctors have told us that if the surgeries are successful, we will be lucky if we are home by Christmas. During this time, Frankie’s dad is torn between staying at his baby boy’s side in hospital and providing for his family, including Frankie’s 22-month-old brother. No parent should have to face that impossible choice — and this is where your kindness can make a difference. With your support, we can ease the financial burden and allow Frankie’s parents to focus on what truly matters: giving him the love, strength, and comfort he needs to keep fighting.
We are asking for support to help cover the costs of travel, living expenses, and lost income while Frankie fights this battle. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and allow the family to focus on being there for him instead of worrying about bills. the hospital have said that they will be lucky if they are all home by Christmas if the operations have gone to plan, but its possible we could be here for 9 months until they are home as a family again. but as it stands baby Frankie is still facing uncertain times and is still fighting.
Frankie has already shown he is a true fighter — and with your love, prayers, and support, we believe he can get through this.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us give Frankie the best chance possible.
