Help baby Eli get a new immune system!

Donation protected
On March 17, 2021, we welcomed baby Elias James Chase into the world. When he was born, he appeared to be a happy and healthy newborn. Little did we know, this sweet bundle of joy was battling a rare, life-threatening disease.

His newborn pre-screening results came back a week later with devastating news; Eli was born with no T-Cells (no immune system).  This diagnosis is  known as Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID). SCID  is a group of very rare, life-threatening diseases that cause a child to have an ineffective immune system. As a result, the child’s body is unable to fight off infections.

Essentially, he is the “boy in the bubble,” because living in a normal environment can prove fatal to children with SCID. Mom and Dad are currently juggling being bedside in an isolated room with Eli at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, while sister Addie is in Monroe being lovingly cared for by her grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends.

The only cure for Eli is a bone marrow transplant. Eli will have to stay in the hospital until the transplant and remain close by for months until his new immune system kicks in. Until we identify a donor match for the bone marrow transplant, Eli is undergoing extensive testing, gene-mapping, IVIG treatments, and being kept in isolation as to stay safe from infections. We are hoping and praying his sister Addie will be a perfect match! The doctors tell us this could have our little boy in the hospital from 3 months to 6 months.

We are reaching out for your support. Your donation will go towards meals, bills and other expenses. Any funds left over will be donated to the Children’s Hospital New Orleans.

Mom and Dad need to juggle being bedside in an isolated room with Eli in New Orleans, and taking care of their vibrant 3-year-old Addie back home in Monroe.

We are be extremely grateful for any prayers and support you are able to provide. We are so lucky to have a strong support system of family and friends. We cannot thank you enough for being there for our family during this very difficult time. Please consider visiting www.bethematch.org to become a bone marrow donor; if not for Eli then for another baby somewhere else.

Sending in advance, love from our family to yours.

Thank you,

Kody, Dani, Addie, and Baby Eli xoxo
