Help baby Declan continue his recovery!

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Lalah and my sister-in-law Dana and brother-in-law Drew could use some help.

On December 16th, Dana gave birth to baby Declan a few weeks before his due date. He had trouble controlling his blood sugar and was flown to Hershey Children's Hospital NICU that same night.

After about a week there, he was transferred to CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia). They performed extensive genetic testing for the next few weeks for his hyperinsulinism.

After the testing, they determined he needed surgery on his pancreas which he got at just one month old. Recovery was a challenge and he ended up needing dialysis. There were further complications with excess fluid in his stomach and clots.

Since then, it looks like he is on the road to recovery. He is still being fed from a tube and will eventually need to re-learn how to feed when his stomach is ready.

Dana and Drew have been able to use their FMLA to be able to spend time and bond with Declan at CHOP (about 4 hours away from their home).

Unfortunately, Dana’s FMLA time is coming to an end and they are struggling to figure out how they can afford to stay with him, not to mention all of the medical bills that will be coming.

Now that he is on his way to recovery, additional time away could cause backtracking on his progress.

If you’re able to, please consider donating what you can to help two-month old Declan with his recovery and get him home to his first time parents. No amount is too small!

We would all be forever grateful and I can’t wait to hopefully (iA) meet my new nephew very soon!
