Help Michele and Paul Straley Adopt Baby Aubree and Fulfill a Grandmother’s Final Wish

We’re reaching out with a heartfelt request to support our dear friends, Michele and Paul Straley, as they begin the journey of adopting a beautiful little girl named Aubree.

Aubree was born in November 2023 under heartbreaking circumstances. She tested positive for drugs at birth due to her biological parents’ struggles with addiction. Rather than see her enter the foster care system, her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth—a close friend of Michele and Paul for over 20 years—stepped in to raise her with love and stability.

Despite efforts from child services, Aubree’s biological parents were unable to meet the requirements to regain custody. In December 2024, the courts granted Elizabeth permanent legal guardianship. Michele and Paul supported her every step of the way.

In February 2025, as Elizabeth’s health began to decline, she entrusted temporary guardianship of Aubree to Michele and Paul—knowing they would love and protect her as their own. Elizabeth made it clear that her greatest wish was for Michele and Paul to adopt Aubree if anything were to happen to her.

On May 23, 2025, Elizabeth passed away.

Since then, Michele and Paul have lovingly cared for Aubree, providing her with the safety, consistency, and nurturing home every child deserves. Now, they are honoring Elizabeth’s final wish by pursuing the legal adoption of Aubree—to make her a permanent part of their family and protect her from an uncertain future.

Adoption is a complicated and expensive legal process. Michele and Paul are humbly asking for help to cover the costs involved, and to show the court their unwavering commitment to Aubree’s well-being.
