Hi, my name is Azalea and I’m 18 years old.
I started this GoFundMe as a side earning to move out while also paying monthly rent for my grandparents for at least a year since they were generous enough to let me stay.

We come from a predominantly poverty-stricken area. No, not everyone here is dirt poor; however, the majority of the city is living paycheck to paycheck.

I can no longer work as I have a skin condition in phase 2 that affects how I walk and lift my arms. It’s called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. If you choose to look this condition up, be wary of what you might see.

This condition has to do with how much sweat I produce, so I have to keep cool and constantly re-bandage weekly (which is pricey). I currently have 2 fans in my room because my room has no cooling system and only 1 window. I have been in and out of the ER for the past 3-4 years because of this condition.

I have also developed fainting spells within these last 4 years due to the thickness and curl texture of my hair. When my hair gets too long, it all of a sudden matts up to a point where I can’t even brush it. When it gets to that point, I start to faint out of nowhere for about 30 seconds each. I typically lay myself on my floor before I fall and I black out for however long I am believed to be out.

Me and my doctors are unaware of what this issues is and it is believed to be “Hair syncope” where you groom certain muscles or nerves (Vagus nerve) in your hair, and that stimulation causes you to faint. I cannot be officially diagnosed because I cannot see a doctor. Insurance is very expensive.

I also take care of my grandparents while living with them. My grandmother has breast cancer going on 20+ years, and her husband is a 2x stroke victim. I say victim instead of survivor because we believe it may happen again, any day now.

He has lost a lot of brain function and is developing dementia. My grandmother is also developing dementia but 9x slower.

As in the photos, I’m sure some of y’all have noticed a picture of my floor. Just recently, my freezer connected to my fridge blew out. Almost 2 days later, my fridge went. Unknowingly, my grandparents invested in a like $500 freezer only 2 days before and ended up having to buy a $1,000 fridge with a connected freezer.

Our last fridge had an ice maker with a water cord connected to it. This new fridge does as well, but it seems to not work. For the past 3-4 days our sink has been leaking nasty water all over our floor. It smells absolutely awful (I gag anytime I’m around it), and you can tell that it’s molding our items on the floor like our books and old pictures! Not to mention that the water has taken up almost the entire back living room floor now.

Our house owner apparently cannot do anything about it, as we own the house. She does the outside plumbing; however, she sold us a fucked-up house. Excuse my French.

Almost a year ago, I had an issue when my grandparents left, and the entire house plumbing stopped working for a week with black water coming out of the sink drains. The house owner could’ve done something about it because it was the outside pipes, but my gran chose to just not deal with it because she’s non-confrontational.

I would also like to preface that I did say we were living check to check, we live off of social security of 1K in California & the very little my jobs gives me. (Tips from one job & only a check of around 30-60 dollars bi-weekly). I haven’t been able to work recently so I haven’t been able to help out meaning that the check is all we have as I don’t get “paid leave.”

I have also been having ongoing issues with my grandmother inviting monitoring spirits in my home. For almost a year and a half, I have been fighting people in my OWN family over how they treat their children, my personal belongings, and my grandparents. Recently, I was almost jumped (by two grown women and a grown 40 year old man). And my grandmother sat back and defended the people who tried to jump me. I love her but I cannot be in a house where she doesn’t take me seriously anymore. If she wants to invest her time in people like that, there is NOTHING I can do. I will help pay their rent monthly, as I still feel bad about the situation we ended up in however, I won’t be talking to either of my grandparents after I officially move out.

I’m also having a hard time finding cheap housing in California without section 8 (I hate the idea of govt assistance of any sort and barely qualifty for it), so it could be impossible for me to find cheap housing. I still won’t give up! However, it’s very exhausting and I’m doing this all alone. This is very hard on me.

Expenses have been so extreme for me, and I know I could raise a lot more for my situation, however even 30K feels like I’m asking for far more than I could ever imagine. I’ve budgeted this amount out many times for hospital bills, normal house expenses, buying a car with future car repairs.

Thank you to everyone who decides to donate. I absolutely will update about my conditions, the floor, disability / job status and my grans every chance I get.
