The last year has undoubtedly been one of the most difficult for our family, when first our Grandmother Tete fell ill. We started to see the light at the end of a long road with her healing process.
Everything was going well in the last month, our little 1 year 11-month-old Aylin played and grew up like any other girl, with her moments of tantrum and joy as it should be, on May 24 she started with problems to evacuate, she was a little constipated. Nothing that alarmed their pediatricians, we were questioned about our work as parents because constipation was associated with diet. Being our only daughter we tried to pamper her as much as possible within our capabilities however the nightmare began shortly after, when we did not appreciate successful treatment proposed by her initial pediatrician, we decided to seek a second opinion from another pediatrician, the constipation continued, our baby ate a little less every day but her spirits did not decline, in the new visit to the pediatrician we were recommended to carry out imaging studies to corroborate that her constipation came from stool accumulated throughout her intestine. A mass was discovered within the abdomen. With the concern to know that our daughter had something so grave and the certainty that something bad was happening because her spirits fell drastically, we went to the emergency room for a medical evaluation. It was determined that it would be necessary to study the mass in question to determine its origin and subsequent management, at this time the hardest days that we have had as a family began. They had to invade her with probes and catheters to be able to take samples and add some powerful analgesic for her severe pain, after some studies in the cabinet more laboratories it was discovered that that strange mass was actually a Teratoma of embryonic origin of grade IV, being the grade that gives less symptoms we could not realize that Aylin was born with this small tumor and it was feeding on our little girl for two years. With the help of tumor marker laboratories it was determined the type of CANCER it was and the appropriate treatment, as all parents we ask for the best care for our baby. Without contemplating at that time the other small great detail that the whole process involved and this is the high cost of treatment, chemotherapy and subsequent surgeries to be able to eliminate the Teratoma in its entirety. At the beginning the plan we were told about was of immediate surgery for subsequent evaluation by pediatric cancer specialist, a new analysis of the evidence changed the plan and it was decided to try to reduce the mass with chemotherapy to later undergo surgery and operate it to resect the mass in its entirety and conclude the picture with new cancer treatment until tumor markers disappear from Aylin's system.
This decision was also given since the doctors saw some small possible masses in her lungs which may or may not be metastases. We hope to God that they are not cancerous, but we were not going to give the disease a chance to continue growing. We are desperate parents needing to save our daughter's life and take advantage of that percentage of survival that the doctors give us. Without wasting time we wanted to start her treatment, we had never realized the great love that our family has for us and with their support we have been able to begin chemotherapy treatment since there is talk of several cycles of this, and as previously mentioned, we do not estimate the cost of all chemotherapies as well as the operation and medical fees.
Our desire as parents is the greatest good for our little girl, Aylin, because who would have imagined that that girl who brought so much light to our life, joy, love and unity today would find herself like this, when days ago she continued doing mischief, exercising with her mother, dancing and singing...Aylin is a very peaceful and happy girl.
Today you might think that we as parents are the ones who are driving her but it is totally the opposite, because to see that despite her treatment and everything they do to her here in the hospital she wakes up with a big smile saying MAMI AND DADDY, asking for food, playing and even dancing.
She is our strength and we know that she is a great ANGEL that GOD sent us to teach us to value each day, each breath and show us that no matter how hard the situation is and no matter how dark the picture may paint us, he will always give us a light and the strength to fight on his behalf.
Update….
June 23th, 2021
After almost a month since our little Aylin was diagnosed with a grade IV embryonic teratoma and after 18 days of her first cycle of chemotherapy we continue with immense faith since we have seen many improvements in her, such as that she eats more than before After starting the treatment, she can already evacuate and urinate by her own without the help of laxatives or other methods, God is so great that he has placed great angels in our path like our family who does not leave us alone, as well as the people who Through gofundme they have supported us, God bless them today and always.
We thank God for so many blessings and so much love for our daughter, we are grateful to be able to be with her throughout this process that despite her young age a few days after her second birthday, she is so strong and
Brave, she teaches us the joy of being able to wake up every day and the strength of despite everything that as her parents we can measure and all the fear that we can have, a smile from her improves everything.
Infinite thanks for her support and all her prayers. ❣
Update ….
September 03,2021.
Today I thank God for the stability of my daughter, on July 23 she was admitted to the clinic again since the tumor had had a 65% reduction in size and it was time to operate.
On June 24 at 8:00 am she entered the operating room, as parents it was very strong since we knew the entire operation plan but with all the faith and trust in our doctors we left her in the best hands.
The operation was a success, the tumor was 100% excised and it was necrotic thanks to the 2 cycles of chemotherapy he received. There were a bit of post-surgical complications but nothing serious. Aylin is a warrior who is accompanied by God in every moment of her treatment.
Again this Saturday, July 31, she will undergo chemotherapy, it has been a long stay in the hospital but we are happy to see her improvement and to see her with excellent countenance and impressive spirits.
Thanks to each of the angels who have supported us and have helped us make it possible for our little girl's treatment to be the best and most appropriate.
God bless you today and always
