Ayden’s road to recovery.
Donation protected
Ayden was born with limited kidney function due to problems in the womb. The doctors told us he would eventually need a transplant. This could be within 2-3 years or 10. He has always been under a strict diet and hydration regime. He had meds to take and really focus on clearing his bladder.
Well through all that we managed to keep his quality of life as normal as possible. He worked out, played sports, hung out with friends all the normal things kids do. But recently his kidneys declined to the point where he has to go on dialysis. This is a very difficult time for us all. I want to thank @children_of_alabama doctors, nurses, and staff. They have been so accommodating and supportive. They make sure to explain everything clearly.
Today was his first dialysis treatment. It went well and he’s doing well. We have been meeting with the transplant team. His last meeting is next month. I hate that he has to go through this. He such an intelligent, caring, well mannered, and athletic kid. Also very handsome. (He gets that from his dad) I say that to say that though it all I’m greatful. I’m a glass half full type of guy. Life will happen to you no matter what. It’s about how your respond that matters.
I will forever feed positivity into my son. This is his testimony he will have to inspire the next generation. We will get through this together. If you all want to say a prayer for me and my family that would also be greatly appreciated.
