Hi, my name is Emma Laurent , a Belgian citizen living in Antwerp. I created this fundraiser to help Aya, her husband Majd, and their three daughters survive the war in Gaza and receive urgent medical treatment after losing everything.
Aya and her family’s house was bombed at the beginning of the war. Their daughter was injured, and they were pulled from under the rubble. They lost their home and every source of income. Since then, they have been living in a fragile tent, struggling every day for food, clean water, and safety in extremely harsh and inhumane conditions.
Because of the blockade and the collapse of Gaza’s infrastructure, prices have risen dramatically. Food, water, and basic medical care for one family can reach around $200 per day, making survival itself a daily struggle.
Their eldest daughter, Mona, 9 years old, was seriously injured during the bombing and now suffers from a severe shoulder injury and deformity that requires urgent surgery outside Gaza. Since that day, she has not spoken because of trauma and urgently needs psychological treatment and speech therapy.
Majd was also seriously injured last July when he was shot in the foot while trying to obtain flour, and after surgery he can only walk with great difficulty.
Below are Aya’s own words:
My name is Aya. Before the war, my husband Majd was a software engineer, and we had a home and a normal life. All of this was destroyed, and for 28 months we have lived through fear, hunger, and pain in a torn tent.
What hurts me most is my daughter Mona. She has not spoken since our home was bombed. I want to take her outside Gaza to treat her and help her speak again.
My husband was shot in the leg with an explosive bullet when he tried to bring us food. I also had two spinal surgeries after slipping in the tent following the rain.
We are exhausted and struggling to survive.
Please consider donating, sharing, and helping Aya and her family survive each day. They have no other source of support, and every contribution truly helps them make it through another day. You are our lifeline. Thank you so much for standing with them during this devastating time. ❤️
