Help Autumn get a handicap acessable van
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Suzy and I am raising money to buy my niece, Autumn a handicapped van with a motorized chair lift.
Autumn was diagnosed with Friedeich's Ataxia at the age of 14. It is a rare, inherited, degenerative disease. It damages the spinal cord, peripheral nerves and cerebellum portion of the brain. It also damages the heart and affects her ability to speak. She is now 28 and the disease has progressed to the point where Autumn is unable to help her mom move her from her wheelchair to her bed or a vehicle.
There is no cure, but there are some promising treatments on the horizon.
We were able to get her a motorized wheelchair last year. The chair has given her back some independence around their home and neighborhood but her family can't afford a van to haul her chair with. It can be extremely difficult to get her in and out of a regular car and I'm worried about what it's doing to her mom's back.
We believe we can get her a very nice van for the money we are trying to raise which will help with not only medical appointments but Autumn and her family's ability to just live their lives.
