Most ‘autism support’ nonprofits and platforms are designed by non-autistic people, with parents to autistic children in mind. They often ignore or infantilize autistic adults and miss what #ActuallyAutistic folks need. As a result, many autistic people stay isolated, misunderstood, and without practical digital solutions built for the way our minds work to provide the help we actually need.

I’m the autistic founder of Aut2Aut, a registered nonprofit that provides free platforms and digital tools for our community, by us and for us. The first platform, prepped.to, is already online. Its autistic users can upload and consult sensory information and service instructions for places, to allow them to prepare and script before visiting them. I also create free content in the form of a blog and podcast (coming soon!)

With proper funding, I could, first, make sure prepped.to stays afloat, and second, work full-time on this instead of scraping by.

€4.5k covers Aut2Aut's immediate bills, and most urgently the tax advisor that makes sure it can maintain its nonprofit status.

€35k would let me work full-time for a year running Aut2Aut, rather than having to count on insufficient welfare benefits or working a job that wouldn't leave me the time and spoons to really work on this important project.

If I could raise the full amount, I could make sure prepped.to reaches more users and has more locations, and build more free resources and platforms, such as a free directory of autistic service providers.

My entire life I volunteered and raised funds for many important causes, and yet, it's really hard for me to ask for help for my own project.

But I think this is worth the effort, because it isn’t just about me, it’s about building something autistic folks need and deserve.

A one time donation of any size can help me keep the lights on at Aut2Aut.

And if enough people give a recurring donation of even 1 Euro per month, I could get the kind of predictability I've been trying to create for the community with prepped.to.
