Hello,
My name is Kimberly and I am creating this account on behalf of my son, Austin, who is now facing his fourth battle with cancer.
Over the past three years, his treatments and health struggles have made it impossible for him to work. His wife has been the sole provider for their family, working full-time at a job that pays $15 per hour.
Austin’s first battle with cancer was in 2018, at the age of 21, with a diagnosis of Burkitt’s Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. At the time, he was married with an 11-month-old and a brand new premature infant. He fought hard and beat the cancer.
Just before being diagnosed for the second time, Austin started a new job that he was very much excited for, one that would pay well for him to provide for his family. But on the second day on the job, a work accident resulting in a 14 ft fall led to a hip fracture in 3 places.
Austin underwent surgery where a plate and 7 screws were placed to align the fracture. Austin was hospitalized again soon after and went septic. During that hospitalization, they discovered the cancer. This time, Hodgkin's lymphoma. A month later, he and his wife welcomed their third and final son into the world.
Again, he fought hard and overcame once more. He also underwent a second hip surgery where they removed the plate and screws and shaved the bone on the head of the femur with hopes of improving his mobility. Months later, he received news that his cancer was back a third time. Austin had just turned 28.
Weak physically, mentally, and spiritually, Austin did what he had to do for his wife and children... fight the cancer again. The plan this time was to get him to remission once more and do a stem cell transplant.
During chemo, Austin discovered that his hip bone (where they had shaved down) was degenerating and he would now need a hip replacement. But they could not do that until he was in remission again and had gained his immunity back. By January 2025, he was in remission, but it took until May 2025 to get him healthy enough to do the stem cell transplant.
Finally, we felt this would change everything. He could regain his strength, undergo the hip replacement, recover, and look forward to entering the workforce again to help provide for his family and continue on with their hopes, dreams, and life goals.
During his routine follow-up with oncology on August 26, 2025, Austin and his wife were given the news that the cancer was back yet again on the PET scan. They must do the lymph node biopsy to determine what cancer they are dealing with and what the treatment plan will be. Tonight, I watched and listened as my son broke the news, his wife too defeated for words.
Through it all, Austin has shown incredible courage and strength. He is a devoted husband and father of their three young children, who need their dad more than ever. Unfortunately, the financial strain of ongoing medical needs and household expenses has become overwhelming for his family.
We are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for your help. Any financial donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward supporting Austin, his wife, and their three children—helping them cover daily living expenses, child care expenses, and providing stability during this very difficult time.
Thank you for taking the time to hear Austin’s story.
