Help Atheists In Kenya Society Survive

Donation protected

Human Rights for Atheists, Agnostics and Secularists, in collaboration with Atheists in Kenya Society (AIK), are running a small but urgent fundraising campaign. This campaign aims to support the immediate needs of both AIK's president and the organisation's legal battle to survive in the face of anti-atheist bigotry being exercised by members of the Kenyan government. HRAAS is not a registered charity, so donations are not tax-deductible. I felt it important to highlight this and be completely transparent in this regard. All funds raised (minus GoFundMe fees and international transfer fees) will be paid directly to Atheists in Kenya Society; the only registered atheist organisation in Kenya.

AIK is under attack by members of the Kenyan Government, who are seeking to outlaw this organisation of non-believers and infringe upon both their Kenyan constitutional right to exist (Articles 32 and 36) plus their right to freely associate and express themselves in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Articles 18 and 20) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, 1976 (Articles 18 19 and 22).

Let's get behind Atheists in Kenya Society and its president and send a clear message to the Kenyan Government - that both the Kenyan Constitution and human rights are not mutable! No donation is too small, so please donate to save the only registered atheist organisation in Kenya.

Yours sincerely,

Harrison Mumia, President, Atheists in Kenya Society
Michael Sherlock, Founder, Human Rights for Atheists, Agnostics and Secularists

How will the funds be used?

1. Contribute to legal fees required to reply in court on the 22nd of November ($1,200 AUD)

2. Assist the president, Harrison Mumia, with rental costs while in between jobs - after being fired by his employer for a tweet - so he can concentrate on his vital role as president of the only registered atheist organisation in Kenya ($300 AUD)

*Any fees and charges deducted by Gofundme and the bank will be provided to donors upon request

'The Atheists In Kenya Society is an atheist organisation registered under the Societies Act in Kenya. It is the first non-religious society to be registered in the country. AIK believes that the most reasonable conclusions are the ones that have the best evidence. It is a member organisation of Humanists International.

The society was established in Nairobi, Kenya, on February 17, 2016. Harrison Mumia is the founder and president. The foundation has its headquarters in Cargen House, Nairobi.'
