Friends, ATA community, and North Siders:
Last year, a group of Allegheny Traditional Academy parents thought it would be great to add some color and art to the courtyard where ATA students enter and exit the building every day. We landed on a collaborative effort between parents, students, and community members to create canvas murals to cover each section of a chain-link fence separating the school courtyard from the Kindred Hospital site.
The students at ATA have come up with words that best represent the school, and an ATA parent (who also happens to be a local muralist) has incorporated those words into a mural that will be installed on the fence.
The canvas needed for the project has generously been donated, and our next step is acquiring the paint + accompanying materials so the students can begin painting the design. We're looking at a total of about $600 needed (please see the materials breakdown).
Our goal is to have the canvas panels ready for installation by the end of this school year so the school and surrounding community can share in a celebration once it is warm enough and before everyone takes off for summer break. We would greatly appreciate any donation, large or small, towards this goal. Any overages in funds will either go towards another art project at the school or will be donated to the school's PTA.
We welcome your support in any form, whether it is a monetary donation, sharing this with your community, or physical help with installation when the time comes. Thanks so much for helping us bring some art to a local space used by the school and North Siders alike!
