Hi there!
I'm organizing a trip to San Diego to help asylum-seeking families when they arrive at the JFS Migrant Family Shelter. Many of these asylum seekers have traveled thousands of miles to flee violence, persecution, and other hardships. Jewish Family Services provides them with access to medical care, wholesome meals, healthy snacks, warm showers, clothing, travel assistance, and a safe place to sleep.
Please donate to help these asylum seekers get back on their feet.
Where will your donation go? When we arrive to San Diego, we will use all of the money raised to buy clothes, luggage and other much needed supplies for the families. All shelter guests – babies, infants, children, and adults – discard their old clothes for health and hygiene reasons and we will buy them new underwear, clean clothes, and shoes before they leave to reconnect with loved ones. We will also coordinate with JFS and buy anything else they need at the time.
When in San Diego we also plan to volunteer with JFS and help them for the day or weekend. Whether they need volunteers to do airport runs to help guests get through TSA or accompany or meet guests at a local hospital and be their advocate with the medical staff, we will be there where they need us.
We plan to go to San Diego Sept 21st and any amount is appreciated! Please share and spread the word and if you would like to come to San Diego to help us shop and volunteer, please reach out!
