This photo was taken the summer of 2020 and was supposed to be a full family portrait. Ashley decided to go ahead and go through with the photo session despite him not being there. This image is now forever an indicator of the beginning of what has been a years-long process of trying to create stability for her family and move towards a new normal. Just yesterday, hopes to come to a compromise and resolution through mediation regarding parenting plans and financial equity in the divorce took a downward turn, and all of Ashley’s efforts to compromise were not enough. Anything more would have left her in severe financial instability and instability for the kids and essentially without a home. Everything will now be decided in court in June.

Ashley must now come up with $10,000 in the next 30 days for an attorney retainer fee in order to seek the stability and parenting plan her family needs. Ashley has been living simply, budgeting constantly to make ends meet, all while going to school to become a CTE teacher, and nannying for friends’ kids; a job that has allowed her this last school year to salvage what she knows is her final stay-at-home time with them. Several of Ashley’s friends have put this GoFundMe together in hopes to help. She always feels wonderfully overwhelmed by the tangible and intangible support she has received over the last couple years. I hope we all can continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus during this last stretch as well and continue to overwhelm her in this way.
