Hello world. This is my brother, Asher. He’s incredible. (Look at that hair. Wow.) Beyond being an absolute stunnah, he’s also a person with a huge heart, a brilliant mind, a hilarious sense of humor and he’s one of the most creative people I know. And I love him to the moon.

But, Asher has always struggled to know how important and valuable and great he is. Whether caused by it or causing it, addiction and substance abuse has played a huge role in this. Without oversharing, it’s caused a lot of heartache for many years and hindered his ability to really live into his awesomeness.

Recently, he got to a point that was very scary for him and everyone that loves him. I don’t know what exactly defines a “rock bottom,” but he got there. Thankfully, he made it through, and for the first time recognized that he needs real, professional help. He made the decision to pursue rehab.

After a couple long weeks of researching, applying for healthcare, moving out of his place, taking assessments, and fighting to stay centered on this goal of getting help, he made it. Yesterday, on August 6th, he stepped into an inpatient detox and rehabilitation program.

On the phone yesterday with my older brother (a dad, who continues to say the most dad-like things), he said, “the world is [Asher’s] oyster.” But he was absolutely right. He has so much opportunity in front of him right now. That said Asher will really be starting at 0 after rehab. Leading up to this moment, he lost his job, his car, and his phone. Part of this step forward meant also stepping away from his current living situation.

So, we set up this GoFundMe to help with the costs that are going to come with the big reset when he leaves rehab. Thanks to generous family members, the cost of the inpatient rehabilitation program is covered, but he will still need to overcome some major financial challenges: finding a place to live, acquiring some form of transportation, getting a phone, maintaining health care, and securing enough income to cover his cost of living until he can find a job (hopefully in a new industry, and one that doesn’t encourage continued substance abuse).

We would be so grateful for any amount of money you can donate to helping Asher kick off this new chapter, this "Act II" if you will, and take the next step forward.
