I am launching this GoFundMe with a goal of $33,183 to repay my family members $20,000 who without hesitation loaned me money for legal fees when I needed it and to pay the remaining $13,183 that I still owe. For the past 10 months, I have been prosecuted by the federal government for a felony assault charge after being arrested at the Portland, OR ICE facility. On Oct. 12th, 2025, I was playing my clarinet with the Unpresidented Brass Band when an officer chased and tackled a protester into our band. During my arrest I was subjected to cruel treatment and incarcerated for 3 days in Clark County Jail.
I am incredibly relieved that the federal legal battle following my arrest has finally come to an end. Navigating the federal prosecution system was one of the most challenging chapters of my life. Through this arrest, the government attempted to isolate me, but my friends, family and community rallied to defend me.
Surviving this prosecution showed me firsthand the immense trauma and mental toll ICE enforcement and federal crackdowns take on immigrant families and their supporters. Because of this, any money raised beyond the $43,183 goal will be donated directly to PIRC, a community organization in Portland, Oregon that supports immigrant families.
