Help Us Move to Oregon: UPDATE We were approved for an affordable rental near Corvallis, OR but need to be ready within 30 days!!!
Dear friends, family, and allies, and those who don’t want us in your bathrooms and schools:
It is time that I take my family to a state that at least has access to life-saving care. The weight of discrimination, bigotry, and harmful politics has taken its toll, but it has also fueled my resolve to protect my family and create a safe, supportive environment where we can thrive.
For me, a transgender nonbinary human and my two children—one a disabled adult and the other a queer 13-year-old—staying in Idaho is no longer an option. The state’s rising tide of harmful laws, anti-queer rhetoric, and increasing hostility have made it clear that we can’t continue living here without putting our safety and well-being at risk.
We are looking to move to Oregon, I know the entire country is in despair with the wave of hate being pushed but at least for us being in a progressive state will give us some security. But we would appreciate your help to make this move a reality.
Oregon offers stronger protections for disabled individuals. I know it's still got the bigots, and the rural parts are very conservative, but at least my daughter can get reproductive care, and we will be closer to her siblings and father.
The Need: Moving from Idaho to Oregon isn’t easy. Especially for a one income family that is barely making it. We need funds to cover:
Moving expenses (truck rental, gas, food, etc.)
Deposits and initial rent for a new home
Basic living expenses while we get established. I have a remote job and the privilege of taking it with me so there will not be a lapse in employment income.
Medical and disability-related costs for my son
Legal and administrative costs (documentation updates, health insurance, education changes, records etc.)
How You Can Help: Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to escaping Idaho. If you cannot donate, please share this plea with your network. Your support, whether financial, physical or whatever, means the world to us.
We are not just asking for financial assistance—we are asking for a chance to live, to thrive. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our story, for supporting us, and for helping us build a better life.
With love and gratitude,
April and family
