Help Appalachee Band Heal in London

The Appalachee Marching Cats from Appalachee High School are raising funds to help one dedicated band member travel to London for a life-changing experience: performing in the London New Year's Day Parade. This trip comes at a crucial time for our band and school community, as we continue to heal from the tragic shooting that took the lives of Mason Schermerhorn (14), Christian Angulo (14), Richard Aspinwall (39), and Christina Irimie (53). The one-year anniversary is approaching, and our school will gather for a candlelight vigil to honor those we lost. For many students, including my son, the trauma is still fresh—he was near the classroom where shots were fired and continues to struggle with panic attacks and reminders of that day.

This trip is more than just a performance opportunity. It’s a chance for this student to find hope, support, and create positive memories after a year marked by loss and fear. The funds raised will help cover the cost of hotel accommodations across from the Tower of London, flights, meals, tickets for sightseeing, and a New Year's Eve dance. Most importantly, it will ensure this band member can participate in the world-renowned London New Year's Day Parade, representing Appalachee High School and honoring the memory of classmates and teachers lost.
