On February 1, 2021, an unimaginable tragedy affected the lives of many in Washington Heights. A rapidly moving fire left a dear friend of ours instantly homeless along with her daughters, doggies, and mother. Antusa Valenzuela, known to many as Anty, is an integral part of the Columbia University Medical Center family. She has been working with us 20+ years, and today she needs us more than ever. She has lost EVERYTHING. Thankfully her daughters, mother, and doggies are safe. I ask that you find it in your heart to give whatever you can. It is in times like these where we can make a difference in someone's life for the better. Anty always has her music playing and is one amazing cook, (I know, she always feeds me). She has befriended many aides, nurses, residents, techs, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and patients throughout her career at Columbia. I am hoping to raise enough money to get her back into an apartment and back on her feet. Let's unite and work together to help a friend in need in one of her darkest moments. Whether you are part of the Columbia family, a fellow New Yorkers, or anyone that can find it within their means, lets turn this dark hour into a ray of hope for our co-worker.
