If you live in Carlsbad, you or your kids have likely have gotten ice cream from Antonio's ice cream van. Antonio’s beloved ice cream van was destroyed in a fire in his driveway. Because the fire was not caused by another vehicle, it is not covered by insurance, leaving him without the very thing that supports his livelihood and brings joy to our entire community.
For more than 16 years, Antonio has been more than just an ice cream vendor — he has been a cherished part of Carlsbad.
In 2010, Antonio started his ice cream business with a simple mission: serve his community with kindness, hard work, and of course, ice cream. Since then, countless families have heard the familiar music of his van and watched their kids run outside with excitement. You’ve probably seen him at Calavera Park, during soccer games at Magnolia Elementary School, by Tanglewood, Sierra Morena, or near the new Fire Station #3, always serving treats with a smile. For many of us, Antonio isn’t just a vendor; he’s part of our kids' childhood memories, summer evenings, and neighborhood traditions.
But Antonio’s impact in the community goes far beyond ice cream.
He has consistently given back to the very community that supports him. Over the years, he has generously donated to local organizations like City SC Soccer, North Coast Soccer League, and Buena Vista Elementary School. His contributions have helped provide uniforms, equipment, and opportunities for young athletes, promoting teamwork, confidence, and community spirit.
Antonio shows up for our kids. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
We are raising funds to help Antonio replace his ice cream van so he can get back to doing what he loves, serving smiles, supporting local youth, and being the steady, familiar presence our community treasures.
