Help Antil Get Settled in the US

Donation protected
In October, sixteen-year-old, Antil crossed the border into the United States from Guatemala. He was detained by border control and kept at a detention center in Arizona for a month.

Because Antil doesn't have family in the US, he spent the month trying to find someone to sponsor him to stay in the country. Through friends, he found Erick, who offered to adopt Antil so he could start the process of becoming a US citizen. In early November, Antil moved in with Erick in Connecticut and started high school a few weeks later.

Erick is doing his best to support Antil. Still, he has little money and is now asking for help paying for all the ordinary yet unexpected costs of raising a teenager—bed, clothes, school supplies, food, glasses, medical support, etcetera. Also, Antil is Maya Chuj, and he speaks very little Spanish and no English, which requires additional effort and support.

Please donate to help welcome Antil to the US and settle into his new home.

Note from Katherine: This fundraiser will pay for Antil's immediate needs, but if you are interested in supporting Antil and Erick in the longer term, please let me know, and I will put you in touch.
