Help Anthony Rebuild After Life-Altering Accident
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andrea Giraldo. I’m organizing this fundraiser for my dear friend, Anthony Toro—one of the strongest people I know, whose life changed forever after a devastating motorcycle accident in 2012.
Although doctors did everything they could to save his leg, years of excruciating pain and constant infections led Anthony to make an incredibly difficult decision. In 2018, he underwent an above-the-knee amputation to escape the relentless pain he lived with every single day.
But that wasn’t the only challenge. The accident left Anthony with severe internal injuries: a lacerated liver (requiring two surgeries), a perforated small intestine (one surgery), fractured vertebrae (L4 and L5), and internal bleeding. He also lost a portion of his tibia and underwent a reconstructive surgery using synthetic bone. On top of that, he broke his humerus and suffered nerve damage that caused complete loss of function in his dominant right hand, which has since atrophied. He also sustained a head injury.
Anthony’s daily life is full of physical obstacles. He requires a special diet and faces mobility challenges that would break most people—but he pushes forward with courage and humility.
Right now, he survives on just $600 a month from Social Security. I’ve helped however I can, including purchasing an RV in hopes he could finally have a home. Unfortunately, the RV is unlivable and in need of serious repair. He’s currently parked on a property that kindly allowed him to stay, but he’s now being evicted due to pressure from neighbors who don’t want him there. He has no reliable shelter and no safe place to sleep.
Despite all of this, Anthony is kind, intelligent, and hopeful. He’s endured the passing of his mother from cancer, and his brother is currently battling the same disease. Life has dealt him blow after blow, and yet, he continues to fight.
This fundraiser is to help Anthony rebuild. Whether it’s repairing the RV or securing a safe space where he can heal and live with dignity, every contribution—no matter the size—can give him a chance to move forward and finally have peace.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for caring. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate your help in giving Anthony the opportunity to start again. God Bless!
