Our son Anthony Jr. was born on July 1 and has already shown incredible strength. He’s a spunky baby boy who, despite being in so much pain that he can’t even cry, still finds comfort in hearing our voices and opening his eyes to look at us. Anthony Jr. is currently in the hospital fighting for his life with NEC, a serious disease that has led to three major surgeries. The doctors have had to remove over 75% of his bowel intestines and part of his colon, and he may need more surgeries in the future.

Because of Anthony Jr.’s condition, both his dad and I have had to stop working so we can be by his side and care for him. This has made it extremely difficult to keep up with our rent and food expenses, especially since we also have a two-year-old daughter, Luna, who needs a safe and stable home. Our biggest worry is making sure that Luna and Anthony Jr. have a home to come back to when he is finally able to leave the hospital.
