Hi, my name is Annie and all I’ve ever dreamed of is being a mom.

I recently turned 37 and time is quietly slipping away. I’ve never had children, and my heart longs to hold a baby of my own. What stands in the way now — more than anything — is the cost.

Years ago, we began our IVF journey here in Ontario. I applied and was approved under the Ontario Fertility Program (for those under 40). We started our tests at One Fertility in Kitchener, going through everything we needed to qualify. After months of waiting for our turn, we were finally selected — right as the world shut down due to COVID.

By the time clinics reopened, two years had passed. In October of that year, we got the call — but we were told that unless we completed the process by December, we’d lose our funded cycle. With urgency and pressure, we went through our first round of IVF. We were able to retrieve one embryo, but it was found to be mosaic — a type of chromosomal abnormality — meaning it wasn’t viable for implantation.

That one shot, our one partially funded opportunity, was gone.

Emotionally and physically, we needed to take a break. IVF is grueling — not just on the body, but on the heart.

Now, as we prepare to try again, we’ve been quoted nearly $30,000 to go through another full round of IVF. Everything is out of pocket. It’s overwhelming, and honestly heartbreaking.

But I still believe there’s hope. I still believe I’m meant to be a mom. And I’m asking for help — something that’s incredibly hard to do.
