Hi, my name is Magdalena Walkowicz and I live in the same block of flats. Thankfully, my flat was not affected, but I witnessed the devastation that happened just a few days ago.

On Friday, 1st May, a devastating fire broke out in our block of flats. What started as an explosion in a ground floor flat quickly spread upwards, reaching the first floor and causing severe damage.

Anita, her partner Miguel, and their two young children were among those most affected. Their flat has been completely destroyed — they have lost everything.

In just a few moments, they lost their flat, belongings, and sense of safety. Anita, Miguel and their children escaped with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

Unfortunately, while the building itself is insured, there was no contents insurance in place — meaning none of their personal belongings are covered.

As neighbours and a community, we are coming together to help them rebuild their lives from nothing.

The funds raised will go towards:

• Emergency accommodation

• Clothing and essential items

• Food and daily living costs

• Replacing basic household items

I personally know Anita and her family and can confirm this is a genuine and urgent situation.
