Help Angie and Jack Dillon become citizens!
Donation protected
Angie and Jack have been in our lives since 2010 when they were only 4 and 2 years old. We pursued their adoption for seven years that included them being adopted and re-abandoned by another family. Finally, in 2017, we were able to adopt them legally.
We have seen the hand of God in bringing them home and making them into the people they are today. They have both overcome so many years of trauma, and we have seen how God has softened their hearts to see our family as their family. It is truly beautiful to see the difference in these children in only four years. Now Angie is 16 and Jack is 14.
In 2020, I applied for I-130s with USCIS for both of them, asking the US government to recognize them as alien relatives. This would allow them to travel to the US and become Legal Permanent Residents where we can then apply for their citizenship. By right, adopted children are guaranteed citizenship. Despite completing all of the requirements, USCIS has argued that we don't have the two-year requirement, missing it by 4 days. Well, they're just wrong about that. To help represent us, we have hired one of the best law firms in the US to represent us, but this comes at a much greater expense than we anticipated.
Unfortunately, all of the expenses related to adoption/naturalization do not offer a "two-for-one" price. Therefore, we're having to cover all of these expenses for both children. We are greatly appreciative of any help and assistance anyone can offer and we look forward to bringing them home one day soon.
Our expenses include:
- I-130 Processing Fees $535 x 2 = $1070
- Translation Services $875 x 2 = $1750
- Legal Fees $2500 x 2 = $5000
- US Domestic Adoption Fees $1200 x 2 = $2400
- Travel to Lima for Interview $140 x 4 = $560
- Medical Examinations $200 x 2 = $400
- Citizenship Processing $1170 x 2 = $2340
- Total Estimated Expense: $13,520
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!
